Summer is quickly approaching and now is a good time to get stocked up on the beef for your summer BBQ's. We raise Wagyu Angus beef. Never heard of Wagyu? It is a breed of cattle originally imported from Japan that are known for their natural marbling creating a one of a kind flavor when they mature. Not only is it wonderful to eat, but it’s healthy for you too. Health experts have discovered the mono-unsaturated to saturated fat ratio is higher in Wagyu then in other beef and, the saturated fat contained in Wagyu is different. Forty percent is in a version called stearic acid, which is regarded as having a minimal impact in raising cholesterol levels. The profile of marbled Wagyu beef is more beneficial and healthier to human health. We breed our Wagyu bull to our Angus cows and come up with the Wagyu Angus cross. They don’t have as much marbling as the full Wagyu breed but many of our customers are very pleased with the beef that they have purchased. We started doing this cross 5 years ago and have built up our herd to be able to supply beef shares of this amazing cross of beef to our customers. Our beef is pasture raised and free to roam on green grass. No growth hormones, steroids or grains are given to our cattle. Right now our cattle are on summer pastures eating fresh green grass and enjoying the sun.
What is a share you ask? A beef share is buying a section of a steer. If you were to purchase a quarter of beef that would be half of a steer that is shared between two people and is split in half so you are not just getting the front or the rear and get all the choice cuts of steaks, roasts and hamburger. You also get to choose how you want your share cut and wrapped, how thick you want your steaks and how big you want your roasts. If you do not like roasts? That is not a problem, you can have them ground into burger. You get to talk directly to the butcher which is a benefit of ordering a share and customizing your share. If you want to go bigger than a quarter because you have a larger family or just like to have good high quality beef on your plate you can also purchase a half share which is half of the steer. We have dates set for June 13th, July 11th, July 25th and many more dates scheduled on our calendar all the way thru this fall.
