All our cattle are pasture raised; no steroids or growth hormones are ever given to our cattle. They are free to roam year round on grass and during the winter months when grass is scarce they are fed locally grown alfalfa and grass hay. No grains of any kind are fed to our cattle. Currently they are enjoying the fresh green spring grass and the warm sunshine. Average hanging weight for them are 650 to 750 pounds. We sell quarter shares, half shares and whole shares.
If you have not heard of the Wagyu breed, it is a breed of cattle originally imported from Japan that are known for their natural marbling creating a one of a kind flavor when they mature. Not only is it wonderful to eat, but it’s healthy for you too. Health experts have discovered the mono-unsaturated to saturated fat ratio is higher in Wagyu when compared to other beef and, the saturated fat contained in Wagyu is different. Forty percent is in a version called stearic acid, which is regarded as having a minimal impact in raising cholesterol levels. The profile of marbled Wagyu beef is more beneficial and healthier to human health. We breed our Wagyu bull to our Angus cows and come up with the Wagyu Angus cross. They don’t have as much marbling as the full Wagyu breed but many of our customers are very pleased with the beef that they have purchased. We started doing this cross 5 years ago and have built up our herd to be able to supply beef shares of this amazing cross of beef to our customers.
