Despite the surprise snow, Spring is in the air. We are planting, planting, planting while the various creatures that love to eat our crops are multiplying, multiplying, multiplying! Anyone know how many babies an average gopher family produces each year? I’m thinking 50 at least. We need barn owls to help keep the rodent population in check but so far, both our owl boxes remain vacant. It’s said that if you build it, they will come but perhaps owls are more discerning creatures than humans…
COMMUNITY FARM + MARKET
March saw us close our store for a week to do make some important improvements. We’ve got a brand new expanded produce section, lots more dairy options, and the best pastured meats raised in Oregon. Come check it out! We want to be your best source for organic, farm-fresh produce and pastured meats year-round. The quality of a farmers market with the convenience of a grocery store! The overwhelming majority of what we sell comes from Oregon growers and producers.
BUILDING NEW SPACES
Construction on our new covered pavilion is coming along nicely! We’re done with the timber-frame structure and are now starting on the roof.
We’ve also been building a whole new flower garden behind our store – about 1/5th of acre of raised beds which will serve multiple purposes: a beautiful place for the community, pollinator habitat, education, and gopher-proof cut flower production. So much to do, such limited time!
NOW HIRING: NERDS!
We like nerds — people who are passionate about what the do and enjoy doing it! Our farm is looking for a logistics nerd and delivery driver. Someone who can not only transport our harvest to local stores & restaurants, but also help to keep all our logistics and operations running smoothly. We are also looking an experienced prep cook for our kitchen, storekeepers for our store, and servers & runners for special events. Check out the job descriptions and details.
