October is international cooperatives month. Did you know that over 2 billion people in this world belong to a co-op of one sort or another? That’s a lot of folks running around proclaiming the end of capitalism! I’m kidding of course – the overwhelming majority of cooperatives in the world are for-profit businesses just like Our Table. We have absolutely nothing against profit – we just believe it should be equitably shared amongst the people who helped generate it in the first place. There are four major food cooperatives in the Portland region – People’s Food Co-op, Alberta Co-op Grocery, Know Thy Food, and Our Table. All four of us have collectively created a Co-op Collab line of local products that are exclusively available only at our co-ops. RESERVE YOUR THANKSGIVING TURKEY
We’re partnering with producer member Marion Acres and our friends at Champoeg Farms to give you two options for local pasture-raised, antibiotic and hormone free turkeys this year. You will pay a $50 deposit when you order, and pay the remaining balance when you pick up. Turkeys will be available for pick-up at the Our Table farm market in Sherwood on either Tue, Nov 21st or Wed, Nov 22nd. Order early to reserve the perfect size bird for your holiday table! PUMPKIN PATCH
October = pumpkins = Halloween = PUMPKIN PATCH!
Come visit us October weekends for pumpkins, plenty of old-fashioned fun, homemade food & treats, a kids crafts arena, hay fort, and more. All this without hefty entrance fees or overwhelming (and expensive) distractions. Visit our website for a complete schedule and details!
OCTOBER CALENDAR
Although our pumpkin patch, which runs every weekend in October, is the main “event” for the month, we also have lots of other exciting occasions for you to visit the farm. Join us on Oct 6th for an Oktoberfest Happy Hour in partnership with Little Hop Brewing. On the 13th, during happy hour we have always fun Wil Kinky performing live music.
